IF YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS OF SLEEP APNEA, HERE ARE THE STEPS TO FOLLOW:

You must follow the following steps in order to benefit from sleep apnea screening services (home test) at Thérapie CPAP Outaouais.

1. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR AND GET A PRESCRIPTION

In order to have cardiorespiratory sleep polygraphy – a test for sleep apnea – you need a prescription from a doctor.

2. CONTACT US TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

As soon as you have your prescription, simply contact us, by dialing 819-778-3748, to make an appointment at our offices.

3. TAKE THE EXAM IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR OWN HOME

At our clinic, a respiratory therapist will teach you how to set up the Cardiorespiratory Sleep Polygraphy monitor yourself to record your sleep episodes during a full night in the comfort of your own home. A sleep questionnaire will also be completed, which will help our pulmonologist to interpret the test.

4. WE WILL DO THE DATA ANALYSIS

Once the monitor returns to our offices, the data collected during your night’s sleep is uploaded and we verify that your data is validated. This recording is then sent to Somnos Clinics for analysis and interpretation by our pulmonologist and sleep specialist.

5. READ THE RESULTS

Once we receive the interpretation of the Cardiorespiratory Sleep Polygraphy results, a respiratory therapist will contact you by phone to let you know the results. The PCRS test interpretation is also faxed to physicians listed on the Consent Form.

Please note that no results are left by voicemail, only a phone message asking you to return our call will be left.

If the interpretation of the test shows an index of respiratory events that reveals obstructive sleep apnea, either the referring physician or our pulmonologist and sleep specialist may prescribe CPAP treatment.

6. START CPAP TREATMENT

If you are prescribed CPAP treatment, a respiratory therapist at Thérapie CPAP Outaouais will advise you on the type of device appropriate for the treatment of your condition while taking care of your comfort. The respiratory therapist will explain how it works and also demonstrate it to you so that you can adopt it and find a restful sleep. It should be noted that the adaptation is done gradually.

7. WE FOLLOW YOU IN YOUR TREATMENT

In order to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment, our respiratory therapist will then follow up closely with you, either by phone call, or by a visit to our offices, or even remotely via a modem of your device connected by wireless network. The purpose of these follow-ups is to provide you with the support you need and to ensure that the treatment is effective. All follow-ups are free of charge for our customers.
